And while things like treating yourself to a spa day, getting your hair/nails done, or going shopping may be the first that come to mind when we think of self-care, they are definitely not our only options. There are so many small, cost-effective methods of self-care we can apply to our daily routines! Yet we are constantly overlooking them or not realizing that they too count as self-care.
It’s not easy to make it in America. It’s even more difficult to make it in America as an immigrant from the African Diaspora, having to face multiple layers of prejudice and injustice every day of your life. But is it possible? Absolutely. And our August Girl Boss is one of the individuals in our community that not only proves this, but should serve as an inspiration to anyone out there that believes that it isn’t possible!
