Goal Setting Guide for the New Year: Queen It’s Your Season to Thrive!

2019 is around the corner and Queen, it is your season to GLOW UP. Contrary to what pop culture tells us, leveling up is not easy and it’s not something that happens naturally. You have to to be intentional and strategic about your moves which requires planning.

As daunting as this process may sound, it doesn’t have to be hard and it can also be fun. Whether you like to write your goals down, use a planner, or create a vision board, this guide was created to help you ask yourself some important questions that will help you gain clarity and insight going into the new year.

Pour yourself a glass of wine, light some candles, grab a pen and paper, play some music, set the vibe and get ready to be intentional about the type of year you want to have ahead.

Reflect on the past year.

Reflection is important because it not only helps you avoid a lot of the mistakes you’ve made in the past but it also helps you acknowledge your growth which will help keep you motivated throughout the year. Ask yourself, what were some lessons you learned? What were the biggest mistakes you made? What are you the most proud of from this past year? Sometimes it doesn’t hurt to look back in order to move forward.

How do you want to feel?

Think deeply about how you and what emotions you’d like to feel more in the new year. Whether it be fulfilled, happy, purpose-driven, or motivated - be detailed and visualize it throughout different aspects of your life, be it personal, career wise, school, relationship, friendships, etc. Now write down at least 3 things you can do to feel this way.

What do you want to accomplish?

Be specific about your goals. Break them down into different sections, health goals, financial goals, spiritual goals, and personal growth goals. Give yourself benchmarks so you can check your progress as you go. Next, identify what resources and networks you currently have that can help you. Then think about what/who you may need moving forward and how you can get connected to those things/people.

Hold yourself accountable.

This is easily the most important tip on this guide but often times the most overlooked. Don’t be one of those people who speaks about growth but gives up on themselves as soon as things get hard. Surround yourself with people who will support and encourage you but at the end of the day, remember that you are responsible for yourself and your growth. Make sure you follow through with what you’re setting out to do.

Now that you have a good idea of how you want your year to look and feel like, with the knowledge you’re equipped with from this year’s lessons and some accountability, you should be ready to crush 2019.

Glow on, girl!
